The MCP1632 is a standalone, analog-based PWM controller. It is simple, small, and provides high-performance (high efficiency, excellent transient response) power conversion. Very unique to this controller is that it can be easily configured as a Peak-Current-Mode Controller, or a Voltage-Mode Controller. This allows it to be easily used across applications having different requirements. It also integrates the slope compensation (to ensure current-mode operation stability), a user-programmable reference voltage, and programmable soft start, to minimize inrush current (input voltage droop) into heavily capacitive loads. It offers an integrated, logic-level, low-side MOSFET driver, which offers flexibility across several different types of power conversion circuits, including boost, SEPIC, and Flyback topologies. Customers may choose the best topology that fits the application requirements. It offers a 3-5V input voltage range, allowing it to be used directly from a 3.3V or 5V rail. A low-power LDO may be used for higher-input voltages. The MCP1632 is offered with two different switching frequency options, either 300 or 600kHz. It offers a broad operating temperature range, and is found in conventional, and small, industry-standard packages.
