This document describes a demonstration board of a 40 W switch-mode power supply dedicated to set-top box, DVD and auxiliary SMPS for flat TVs or small size flat screen equipment.

This reference design represents a cost effective solution for low power high voltage power supplies. It has been developed to cover applications requiring an ultra-wide input voltage range (between 90 and 450 VAC), typical of 3-phase applications. The STEVAL-ISA071V1 switched-mode power supply (SMPS) demonstration board is dedicated to mains applications requiring -5 V and +7 V referred to neutral. The STEVAL-ISA029V1 evaluation board is an isolated triple-output flyback converter, suitable for wide-range input voltage operation. LinkSwitch-TN is a low-cost, full-featured monolithic IC integrating both the control circuitry and high voltage MOSFET switch into the same device. Some of the most prominent features of the device include an On/Off type controller, a maximum switching frequency of 66 kHz, which includes ±4 kHz of frequency jitter to help reduce EMI and a 700 V MOSFET.

This reference design is an auxiliary power supply based on the VIPer12AS monolithic device and can be used to produce multiple non isolated positive or negative voltage outputs.

The iW1830-EVAL evaluation board implements a dual-output, 15W power supply based on Dialog Semiconductor’s iW1830 AccuSwitch™ digital offline power supply controller IC. The evaluation board supplies two outputs, 12V/1A and 5V/0.5A, using a single primary-side controlled quasi-resonant flyback converter.
