There are many applications for current sense amplifiers and they all involve sensing and measuring the current flowing through a resistor or shunt. In the case of the LMP8480/LMP8481 and because of the 4 V to 76 V common mode voltage range (CMVR), the listed applications are of particular interest. They include the Communications arena, where the current of the PA in the Remote Radio Head, the base-station or the microwave unit needs to be measured or the current on the server backplane. Other typical applications, include automotive to monitor the car battery or the current through the fuel injector circuit and industrial to monitor the current of motors or even to monitor solar panels.
