This slide presents a summary of the new features in the STMicroelectronics stepper drivers. In current mode, the decays are managed automatically. The voltage mode achieves a true 128 microsteps. The motion engine allows the user to generate speed profiles and positioning commands. There is non-dissipative control of the current, and daisy chain operation is possible which results in the use of less GPIOs on the microcontroller. Lastly, these drivers allow the designer to use less components, for example not requiring a shunt resistor.
