Atmel Smart Plug: Introduction & Provisioning

This IoT reference design comes complete with secure wireless connectivity, cloud services, control and sensor functions, and data logging. It includes the core functionality required by all IoT products, whether it's enabling connectivity, improving the user experience, or collecting data for analytics.

The Smart Plug is a complete product in a power plug form facto and can be turned on/off in one of three ways: its QTouch button, an app on your phone, or remotely using cloud services, which even allows you to program time-scheduled operation. It’s equipped with data logging that can be used for power consumption analysis and supports up to 2kW of output power.

The IoT application features the ATSAMW25 module (a highly integrated module with ATSAMD21, WINC1500, ECC508A), and an ATM90E26 device to realize ARM Cortex-M0+ MCU control, Wi-Fi connection, CryptoAuthentication with secure hardware key storage, QTouch sensing, and energy metering functions with an optimized BOM.
